During summer of 2013 I had the opportunity to go on a 5 week trip around Western Europe. My goal during the trip was to not only visit the famous/touristy spots but instead take the time to capture the essence of the city through sketching. I feel like through sketching I’m taking the adventure to another level, by drawing the architecture you can really express the culture in ways photographs cannot.
One of the cities that inspired me the most was the site of Basel, Switzerland, which is located along the Rhine River near France and Germany. I was especially fascinated by the series of apartments that line the Rhine River. All of the apartments have their own unique character that make up the beautiful medieval city.
