Giuliana and myself made a map of the Italian island of Sardinia. Though our initial intent wasn’t just that – it started out with an ornamental drawing on a fancy piece of paper that we had lying around. Giuliana started drawing some lines, patterns, flowers and occasionally handed me the paper so I would continue. We went this way back and forth until the entire page was embellished. At first we didn’t really know what to do with it, until Giuliana had the great idea to take the silhouette of her home island and crop our drawing into it. I then scanned the illustration, tweaked it in photoshop by adding some colors, textures and details, and finally printed it out and framed it. It turned out to be a really nice Christmas present.
